From a small cooperative to a cornerstone of the regional dairy industry
Since our registration in 1966, Toro Dairy has grown from a small collective of passionate farmers into a powerful engine for rural development. Our success is not just measured in litres of milk, but in the strengthened livelihoods of our members, the prosperity of our communities, and the sustainable practices we champion.
Landmark accomplishments that showcase our progress and commitment
Successfully acquired and developed our own permanent processing facility on Rukiidi III Street, Fort Portal City, providing a stable foundation for operations and future growth.
Trained over 415 farmers in modern, climate-smart dairy farming techniques, leading to an average yield increase of 40% for participating members.
Spearheaded the Low Carbon Project, installing 28 biogas units and promoting sustainable waste management, reducing the carbon footprint of member farms.
Built strategic partnerships with organizations like Trias and aBi Development, leveraging external expertise and funding to amplify our impact on the ground.
The true measure of our achievement is the prosperity of our members
"Before joining Toro Dairy, selling milk was a daily challenge. Now, I have a reliable market and a stable income. The training I received helped me double my production, and I've been able to send all my children to school."
"The biogas unit installed through the cooperative has changed our lives. We no longer buy charcoal for cooking, and the slurry has improved my crop yields. It's a clean, sustainable cycle that benefits my farm and my family."
