The 2022-2026 Trias-DGD Project in the Rwenzori Region
Fostering a prosperous, self-sustaining dairy farming community in Rwenzori
The Trias-DGD Project (2022-2026) is a five-year Organizational Development Plan developed in partnership between Toro Dairy and Trias under the Belgian-funded DGD Programme.
Our vision is to foster a prosperous, self-sustaining dairy farming community where farmers embrace innovation, improve productivity, and build resilience against socio-economic challenges.
The project translates ambition into action, ensuring that farmers—particularly women, youth, and disadvantaged groups—access high-quality services and actively participate in shaping the dairy value chain.
Through enhanced animal husbandry, value addition, and brand marketing, we aim to improve livelihoods while building a resilient dairy sector in Uganda.
Four pillars for sustainable dairy development
Ensuring women, youth, and vulnerable groups are meaningfully involved in cooperative activities and decision-making processes. Creating supportive policies and expanding communication channels to strengthen farmer participation and loyalty.
Improving access to extension services, training programs, and financial products that support better farm management and profitability. Enhancing efficiency through farmer clustering and capacity building of extension workers.
Building networks with cooperatives, industry associations, and development partners. Creating opportunities for learning, partnerships, and advocacy through stakeholder meetings and policy dialogues.
Investing in governance, leadership, and management practices. Developing standardized systems for planning and reporting while modernizing financial management through digital systems for long-term sustainability.
Collaborating for inclusive and sustainable dairy development
The partnership between Trias and Toro Dairy Cooperative represents a strategic collaboration aimed at transforming the dairy sector in the Rwenzori Region through the 2022-2026 Organizational Development Plan.
This partnership combines Trias's development expertise with Toro Dairy's deep understanding of the local dairy sector, creating a powerful force for positive change in the Rwenzori region.

The Organizational Development Plan is more than a project implementation strategy—it is a pathway for transforming the livelihoods of dairy farmers in the Rwenzori region.
It contributes to broader goals of sustainable agriculture, youth employment, and rural development, while positioning Toro Dairy as a model for cooperative excellence.
By combining inclusivity, strong services, effective networks, and robust governance, the cooperative is shaping a future where farmers are empowered, communities are strengthened, and the dairy sector contributes meaningfully to Uganda's socio-economic development.
